Who is the real-life figure?

Xinhua’s premiere report identifies Cui Daozhi as the inspiration and names the nonfiction work 中国神探——共和国刑警崔道植 as source material. Search the Chinese names when looking for biographical reporting: 崔道植 for the historical person and 崔寻 for the film character.

A fact-based film still makes adaptation choices

A real-case basis does not establish that every conversation, sequence or relationship is reproduced literally. When comparing accounts, note the publication date and whether the writer is describing a historical event or a scene. This guide does not reconstruct crimes or attribute invented dialogue to real people.

Plan for a 140-minute feature

Maoyan’s release-notice summary lists 140 minutes. Leave additional time for travel and cinema advertisements. If you are comparing it with the 88-minute Peppa film, the difference is 52 minutes of screen time; it says nothing about relative quality. Check the exhibitor’s content notices for your own comfort preferences.

Read background without losing the suspense

Begin with the identity, runtime and broad biographical context. Detailed reporting about the real cases may reveal developments used by the screenplay. Save those accounts for after viewing if you prefer to encounter the investigation fresh. No unverified ending explanation is supplied here.

Viewing questions

Is Cui Xun the historical person’s name?

Cui Xun (崔寻) is the character; Cui Daozhi (崔道植) is the real-life figure identified by Xinhua.

Is it a sequel to another detective film?

The word “detective” in a translated title does not prove a franchise connection. The sources linked here do not establish a required earlier film.
